tulum is pretty as a picture...

rising above the want to lounge about in our hotel room and not brave the weather, we set about seeing tulum in all its glory, despite the rain... its famous white sand beached and turquoise water still beckoned…

tulum is split between the beach and tulum pueblo (the town) by a 3km bike ride or a short taxi ride and we have found a favourite spot for both tourists and mexicans alike as as a picture perfect holiday destination. both days now we have biked to the beach for lunch however are yet to brave a swim, although the water is ridiculously inviting.

our initial thoughts on tulum pueblo were not so great given that there is a virtual highway running right through the centre, but that was until we did a little exploring and found a vast number of boutiques and amazing gourmet eateries right off the main drag - spanish tapas, paella with a side of mariachi if you will. known for its hippie vibe and yoga enthusiasts, its definitely worth a visit if you are in the cancun or playa del carmen areas, even if its just for an evening. the people are friendly and welcoming and its lovely to meander through the streets and see how the locals live.

here are some pics from the tulum and its surrounds.
